For dictation and file transcription, no. Your Mac does the listening, and you can check that yourself: turn off your wifi and carry on working. AI rewriting is the one exception. Your transcript goes to Google's Gemini to be rephrased and comes straight back, and nothing along the way keeps a copy of it.

There is a 48-hour trial of the whole app, with no card and no account. After that Wavenote is $4.90 once. Only the AI rewriting is a subscription, and that subscription is called Wavenote+; it includes the app, so it is a second price rather than an addition to the first. Rewriting is the only part that costs anything to run.

You get your raw transcript inserted instead. Every failure path does this: no network, timeout, expired licence, rate limit. Rewriting failing must never cost you your words.

Eighteen European languages, plus Japanese, Korean, and Chinese in both scripts. Twenty-two in total, and English is the best supported today.

If your Mac has an Apple chip and is on macOS 26 or later, yes. The older Intel Macs, no.

Wavenote covers two, and they can be a Mac and an iPhone. Wavenote+ covers every device you own. You can release one yourself from Settings at any time.
