Wavenote as a Plaud alternative
A recorder you buy and carry: a card the size of a credit card, or a pin, that records a meeting or a conversation and hands it to Plaud's apps for a transcript and a summary.
What Plaud does better
Plaud records what a Mac cannot hear. It is a device in your pocket, so it takes the corridor conversation, the phone call and the meeting you walked into with your laptop shut, and the recording is on your phone, your Windows machine and the web by the time you sit down. Wavenote needs a Mac that is awake and in the room, which rules out most of what Plaud was made for.
Where Wavenote is different
- Nothing to buy but the app and nothing to carry. Wavenote hears your microphone and what your Mac is playing, at the same time.
- Transcription happens on your Mac, so there is no monthly minute count to run out of.
- Notes are files in a folder you picked, rather than recordings held in one company's account.

Plaud states the $189 and the 300 free minutes a month on the product page linked above, and names a Pro plan at 1,200 minutes a month elsewhere on its site without a figure beside it. No price for Pro, Unlimited or Team could be read from Plaud's own pages, so the subscription cost is left off rather than taken from a review site.
